I found a cafe in pune. 2 blocks (or whatever you would consider blocks) up. Quite the trek though. And every time you cross the street you feel like you're gong to die. Tell my mom i love her says carla. no kidding. but it's how it is. beepin cars. they come about a centimeter, if not closer, next to each other. bikes. rickshaws (which we'll be takin to and from class each day).

it's much cooler in pune. but that's not saying much. anju and i have a decent bedroom. but by american standards it's pretty bad. and the bathroom is gros and tiny. showers are by the bucket. and water comes in one temperature. luke warm. i love it though.

our first meeting in a few minutes. what will the teachers be like? our TA is awesome. like new best friend. tinyindian girl/lady. she lives right next door and she loves to party. she's so helpful. yesterday i was goin to go to the prince of wales museum and the indian museum of modern art, but i ended up just talking with Nama the entire time. i'm so glad to have her with us.

But the program still seems to be in shambles. or maybe it's just how it appears. sorta like how india appears, but really it's not. just a different organization that we're all used to. and different timing. for instance. yesterday the 4 hour busride to pune. crazy. monsoon came. no tarp. bags on top of the car. and we stopped in the middle of it. to find the only western toilets around. where? mcDonalds. in the middle of the slums was this mcD's. it was super nice. we were shocked. once to pune we had to stop over 12 times for directions. our drivers really have no idea where they're going.
